Handmade custom cutting boards

All Moore craft and woodworks cutting boards are made from hardwoods and done by hand in Johnstown, Ohio. The majority of the woods are locally sourced from Almendinger sawmill. The exotic woods are from reputable stores such as woodcrafts.
There are 3 types of cutting boards. Price depends on the type of board, what woods are used and size.
Face grain– This style uses the widest part of the wood as the cutting surface. These can be one solid piece of wood or multiple pieces glued side by side. This style will show the grain of the wood he most. Face grain cutting boards are more likely to have knife marks after usage so only light cutting should be used on these. The average thickness is ¾ inch. Starts at $30 and up. Standard size is 8×12
Edge grain– This style is the most sold. It uses the sides of the wood making a good strong cutting board. These are made by cutting a solid board into strips, turning then on their side and gluing them together. Once the glue is dry they are planed, juice grooved (by request), sanded, soaked in mineral oil, and then sealed with board butter. Multiple species of wood can be used in the same cutting board to give a unique look. These hold up better to knife marks. The average thickness is 1 ¼ inch to 1 ½ inch. Starts at $60 and up. Standard size is 13x16x1.25 inch.
End grain– This is the best of all three. This style uses the end of the wood which is like bundling straws together. All the wood fibers are on the cutting surface giving it a “self healing” quality and helps keep knives sharper longer. These are made by cutting a solid board into strips, turning then on their side and gluing them together. Once the glue is dry they are planed to clean them up and make it flat. Then they are cut into strips (opposite of the first cutting) and turned on their ends and glued again. Then they are planed, juice grooved (by request), sanded, soaked in mineral oil, and then sealed with board butter. Multiple species of wood can be used in the same cutting board. Starts at $125 and up.
